Inside Cover Continued
As before i was thinking about using the "opacity" feature of photoshop, i decided to have a look at the end result and i was suprised on how well it seemed to fit the overall look of the cover. however i did have a few problems as i had to go and take some more images of the band as some of the images that i was going to use was that the image was "cut" at the top making the image useless

Inside cover Continued
Today i used a selection of images from the band and used them of the left hand side of the cover as the dvd will be on the right which to make sure that i do not go over it i place a solid red circle. the images that i chose to use were of the band playing their instruments. i think that i might use the feature "Opicaty" to overlap the images.
DVD inside cover
Today i have started on the inside cover of the dvd cover.I first of all to keep the continuity of the tasks and the colour scheme i kept the background colour and colour scheme the same as i think that having the same scheme though out will help show consistency.

DVD cover Continued......
Today i have managed to use another image in the dvd cover, this time the photo is of the band members and i have located it in the bottom left hand corner, to get the area of the image of what i wanted to use i tried to use the "quick selection" tool like i had used before but however this was not enough and i was required to use another tool to get rid of some of the background. this tool i used was called the "progmatic tool" this allows you to select in more detail on what you want to select.

DVD Cover Continued....
Today i added all of the revelant extras onto the dvd cover like the barcode, the copyright symbol and the record lable. the record lable that i havve chosen is curb records, the reason why i have chosen this record lable is that they i think are the best company to use as they have signed similar bands of similar genre

DVD cover
today i started to create the cover for my dvd. i first used a tool on photoshop to make the background fade from a blackish colour to a white in the centre, then the pattern is continued from white back to the back like at the start. i did however have a few problems in getting the desired result as i was new to the photoshop program from have little experience before hand. I also managed to add some of the songs that will be "included" in the dvd cover using the pointy font.

Fonts

I have decided to choose two fonts from a website called www.dafont.com, the reason why i have chosen to use two fonts in stead of one is because i think that using two similar fonts could help in showing my genre.
the first one that i have chosen a font called "pointy" and the second one that i am chosen is called Anglic War. i have decided to choose these fonts because i think that these two fonts are the best to represnt my genre
Change
in my pervious post i have said that i would keep my tasks as plain as possible, but after further consideration i have decided not to keep the tasks blank but to use colour. the reason for this is because i think that the use of colour in my tasks as they would attract more attention to my video and band
Media package
planning for the rest for are media package is to create a dvd cover and an news paper advert.
for both the dvd and the advert i have decided to use no colour in the work as this fits in with the over style that i want to create for the band. i have also decided that for the dvd cover i will try and follow the style that i have created in the music video that i also created

Photoshop
i have decided to use a program called photoshop as i think that it is the best program to use as it has a lot of useful tools to help me complete these tasks. Other programs that i considered were not up to the task that i wanted to accomplish.

Editing
We tried to insert some of our band footage into are timeline on final cut, but unfortuntly we encounted some problems when we tried to add the clips. however this was not the only thing that we tried to do as we also tried to see what footage worked and what did not work. as a result of this we now have a clear idea about what footage that we should add top the video to make it more professional looking.

Editing
Today i managed to complete in editing all of the band footage that we have so far into usable footage that we are going to use in the video. we still need to sort out a possible re-shoot as we still need more overall footage of the band playing the instruments. with in the footage that we have managed to show the atmosphere with in a music studio thought the good use of the viarity of camera angles.

Editing
Today i started to upload some of are band footage that we are going to have in the video. as we were uploading are footage we realised that we had plenty of footage of the band "messing around" but we have very little footage of the band actually playing the instruments, so this means that we have to reshoot the band clips and get more of the band actually playing the intruments.

Editing
today we managed to add to the amount of footage that we are able to use to increase the footage to about 20 - 21 seconds, but however we were unable to save this for an unknown reason. we also managed to add the song that we are using to the animation.

editing our music video 2
At the end of today we have so far upload approximately 78 - 85 frames which have all have been hand drawn and we have put these into final cut to produce approximately 3-5 seconds of useable footage
Editing our music video
today we continued are editing/ uploading for our video using the final cut software we have decided that each frame is going to be 00.00.04 th of a second. This might be a little quick for a music video but with stop motion animation, we have to manually import the images so that they run at 25 fames per second, where as conventional music videos record at 25 frames per second automatically.

Editing
The way in which we are creating are music video is time consuming. this is down to the fact that all the animation is hand drawn and that it takes time in producing all of the required images that we need to use for are video
Uploading/ editing
today we started to put the whole thing together, however the new program that we started to use called final cut was a little bit difficult to understand and get use to all of the new functions as are previous videos all have been made with the standard software Imovie. I move is o.k for using but however compared to final cut, I Move does not offer the same amount of special effects as i Movie.
Filming
we filmed today the part of are music video where there is no animation and we films clips of the band. now that we have this we will be able to show little clips of the band during the video, however images of the band will not be shown for a long time in the video.

Montage editing
here is Montage editing broken down:
- continuous development of a linear narritive is not a key function
- uses a more of a wide selection of frames and angles are used.
- makes use of of a variety of editing possiblites
- discontinuity is preferred rather than continuity in time and space

classic continuity
here are what Classic continuity is broken down:
- the function of editing is to further the narritive
- continuity has a limited taxonomy of shot types to 'naturalise' movement from shot to shot, so that it appears 'seamless'
- makes use of a narrow set of editing possiblities e.g the standard to show dialouge between characters is shot -reverse shot
- continuity is sought to preserve the flow of time and coherence of space.

Godwins theories
Godwin came up with several theories to do with the lyrics of a song in the music video. There are three main theories that he came up with:
Illustration - this is where the narritive tells a story of the lyrics in a literal way/meaning. this is done through the visuals of the video
Amplification- the visual narrtive does not contradict the lyrics of the song but instead they creates new levels of meaning which makes the viewer think more about what they are seeing
disjuncture- this is where the visual narritive goes against the lyrics of a song for example where the song talks about a cat and the audience is shown a dog

Bordwell and tompson
There are 4 main methods to make a music video intresting for the audience and tompson and Bordwell came up with the following methods:
Graphic :
This is based on Mise-en-scene and cinematography of the music video. with in Graphc there are three sub catagories, graphic match, graphic continuity and graphic discontinuity.
Rhythmic:
This considers how long each shot is shown to the audience.
Spatial:
this is used to show the audience how the Mise-en-scene is set out in the music video
Temporal:
this is to do with whether or not the music video follows some sort of order.

MGMT - Kids
After looking at this video, i have thought about the song that i have chosen for this project and have noticed that if i were to follow the idea which is shown in "KIDS" then my video would almost certainly need to have an aspect of montage editing for the video to fit with the overall genre of the song.
Questionnaire results and analysis

After looking at all the research that I have carried out i think that the main focus of my music video should be on the genre of Rock or Classic rock. as i have stated above that girls are more interested in what seems to be a more wider styles of genre and i think would be more then likey to find the genre of my music video to their liking as they seem more willing to listen to more than a couple styles of genre. boys however seem to be the different from the girls as the majority of my research has shown me that they seem that they almost seem to stick to one style of genre as if possibly more suits there tastes in music.
